Welcome!
I was hoping you’d stop by. I’m so glad you’re here!
So you’re curious about archery and want to know more about it?
Whether you’re interested in 3D target archery or bowhunting, you’re in the right place.
Learning archery can sometimes be a little intimidating, but don’t you worry, I’m here to help.
Does any of the following sound familiar?
● I’d like to shoot a bow but don’t have a clue where to start
● My spouse keeps asking me to shoot archery with him
● I’m not strong enough to pull back a bow
● I might like shooting targets, but I could never shoot a deer
● I’m looking for an outdoor activity to do with my kids
● I want a low impact hobby to keep me active
● I think I’m too old and out of shape (total myth)
● I don’t have time. I work full-time and my weekends are full of chores
You’ve just found someone to help you figure it all out.
Whether you’re just starting your archery journey or have been shooting for years, there is always something new to learn.
When I first started shooting 3D, I was a bit intimidated because a lot of times, I was the only girl shooting with a bunch of guys. That made me nervous and sometimes kept me from doing my best.
Don’t let intimidation or fear of not knowing hold you back.
● I believe the more you know about your new hobby the more comfortable you will be
● Sharing what I’ve learned (and am still learning) will make your journey easier
● You need someone to break things down and explain the what’s that, how-to’s and the why’s
● I know you can be successful, you just need someone to help guide you along.
Hey there! I’m Jill!
I love encouraging and teaching women the basics of archery, about the different equipment, all the accessories, the language, and the awesome benefits it offers. If I can inspire just one woman to pick up a bow and start her archery journey, then I’ll be a happy camper!
How my archery journey started…
I credit my husband for getting me involved in archery. He started shooting at a very young age, in fact, I think he was born with a bow in his hand. He kept asking me to shoot archery with him. He liked to bow hunt and shoot 3D target competitions, and I never thought I’d like to do any of that. But I was wrong.
My initial reaction to my first 3D event was that I loved it and couldn’t wait for the next shoot! But I noticed there weren’t very many women that showed up. That’s when I decided to start this blog and encourage women to try archery.
And when I first started bowhunting, I was really worried that I’d be able to do it. Growing up I had been successful with rifle hunting, but this hunting with a bow thing was a whole new experience.
For the first couple of years I wore some of my husband’s hunting clothes because I couldn’t find any women’s hunting clothes that fit me. They all seemed to be made to fit a barbie doll… I’ve never been barbie doll
size–quite the opposite, in fact.
Some of the best things in life don’t happen until we’re older. For instance, I didn’t start nursing school until I was 40 and didn’t start archery until I was almost 48. So don’t think for a minute that you’re too old to learn something new. Archery doesn’t have an age limit nor does it have a weight limit, thank goodness.
Some other fun facts:
- I’m a wife, Christian, nurse, author, archer, and content creator dedicated to guiding you through the basics of archery.
- I’m married to a man a bit younger than I am and we live in my grandparents’ 100+-year-old farmhouse on the family farm surrounded by family.
- I love cats, the color yellow, a little gardening, and riding the Harley with my husband.
